I saw that you retweeted Mark Levin’s post about Netanyahu’s trial and wrote that the deep state is everywhere. You should know that the Netanyahu trial is just the tip of the iceberg in Israel. Israel is not a democracy but a juristocracy. The Supreme Court has unilaterally taken the power to strike down constitutional amendments without any authorization from the people, and in early 2024, it declared itself as the sovereign authority. It operates to preserve anti-democratic and wokeist ideologies.
The government is shackled by a Attorney General who was appointed by the former leftist government, who acts as the left’s veto player over every decision, arbitrarily declaring legal “impediments,” with the Supreme Court generally backing her. The citizens of Israel do not live in a democracy but under a regime of juristocratic oppression, enforced by the bayonets of the Israeli deep state.
I am a professor of constitutional law and served as the founding chair of the Israeli chapter of the International Society of Public Law (I-CON). As an expert in comparative constitutional law, I can confidently say that there is no other place in the world where the judicial system has taken so much power without the consent of the people. The people, in turn, struggle to reclaim their power because the Supreme Court is controlled by arrogant jurists who represent the woke camp in Israel, which is a small minority here, and strike down any law, even constitutional amendments, that do not align with their worldview. Worse, the juristocrats treat any act of defiance against them as a call for civil war.
Like you, I also self-identify as a moderate liberal, but over time, I have come to realize that many of my former colleagues on the left have abandoned common sense liberalism in favor of anti-democratic wokeism.
I understand that you are reviewing "political" expenditures in the U.S. budget. You should take a close look at the agents of Israeli juristocracy, the very organizations that engineered the democratic erosion culminating in the early 2024 Supreme Court ruling, which declared that the judges are the sovereign authority and can strike down constitutional amendments without any authorization.
Here are the key legal organizations involved: 38 organizations affiliated with the New Israel Fund, whose former CEO also served as a top senior at USaid; The Movement for Quality Government in Israel, whose budget saw an unprecedented increase in 2023; The Israel Democracy Institute (you’re familiar with the woke playbook—they use the word "democracy" to describe something completely opposite); and the Forum of Law Professors for Democracy, actively involved in undermining Israeli democracy.
If you're looking for further evidence, I invite you to read the first reply below, which includes the “guilty plea” of law professors forum representatives, offering the clearest admission of their role in dismantling Israeli democracy.
I am not calling on you to support personal sanctions against these organizations or their members—at least not at this stage. However, transparency would greatly benefit the people of Israel in understanding how Israeli democracy was dismantled in 2023.
